It just says Gloworm Ultimate.....?
Hot water is mains pressured so I'm told, possible its scale as it used to clog up badly, though since getting a water softener fitted two years ago we've had no problems anywhere else.
Unit is nearly six years old. Heating and water are fine.

If the banging noises are from the boiler itself, then it's probably boiling!
Two likeliest causes:
- short of water - check level in F&E tank (if there is one or the pressure in a pressurised primary system (pressure gauge on or near a red-painted expansion vessel.
- poor flow of water through the boiler. Has any work been done on the system that might have left air in the pipes instead of water? Have you tried bleeding the rads and (particularly) any air-vents near the HW cylinder?
Have you (ever) had to reset the overheat cutout on the boiler?

Sorry to waste your time and thanks for the responses. Had it fully serviced today and it was fine - turns out its a pipe under the floorboards in the bedroom above the boiler expanding/contracting.
Strange that it comes and goes, months with nothing, then it starts again.
