Hi there i have a slight problem with my worster bosch 28HE boiler. For the last 2 weeks at around the same time 6.30pm my boiler switches off and the display panel has EA displayed on it.
Having read the forum i understand the problem maybe related to the condensing overflow being blocked. I have checked the overflow all seems to be ok. So this evening i took the boiler cover off and had a look. When the EA came on the condesnate trap in the boiler was 80% full press the red button the water flowed away leaving only a small amount in the bottom of the trap.
now for the next 2 hours what will happen is the boiler will fire up for 5-10 second and then switch off, This will happen for the next 5 minutes and eventually the EA diagnostic falut will come on. Press the red button again and it will go through the same procedure as above. After a while the boiler will fire up ok and work normally.
During the day the boiler is on all day and there is no problems with it at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

1.get the meter governor changed...this can get stuck and prevent boiler from firing.had it before on worcester and they seem more sensitive to dicky meter governors
2.faulty burner...ive had it where the gauze becomes slightly "loose"therefore when on low modulation it causes the burner to go out

these must only be considered provided all working, standing pressures are ok.electrics and combustion spot on as well :D

thanks for the reply what are the possible costs on the option 1 or 2.

would either option explain why the fault occours at a very specific time but works well up to that point.

Agree with combispecialist have had this very same problem with the govenor. Trick is getting nat grid to change it though. Also just a thought but if it is the model i think it is there is a non return flap just below the the fan which can tear and cause weird stuff. All of this is out of the range of D.I.Y. so plse do not mess get a knowledgable RGI or hope you get an experienced B/G engineer.

check the electrodes. the rectification electrode gets really bad on these.

condensate blocks up if they are not emptied every year.

If you are competent you could remove and wash out the condensate trap.

NG should change the meter regulator for free but you will have to use some story about your boiler engineer says its causing the problem.

Any other work on the boiler will need a competent registered engineer.

thanks for the replys but i still dont understand why the problem occurs after 6.30pm and works perfectly during the day.

Could it be the street gas supply is getting a bit low when everyone else gets home and turns on their heating and gas cookers?

Not everyone is unemployed yet.

A friend of mine, I met again this evening, is a very well qualified economist who used to work for the CBI but he is still unemployed and starting to do charitable work.
