handrail on staircase with winder box, building regs?

Hi

The staircase to my work in progress loft conversion is as follows:

4 steps, then 90deg winder box comprising 3 steps, then final 5 steps.

I would like to fit 2 sections of handrail rather than 1 long continuous length of handrail. Is this permitted by building regs? I have looked on the web but can't find an answer.

Technically you need a continuous handrail on at least one side but speak to your BCO they may well let you have gaps.
