Is it possible to get a plan of your existing house from somewhere? Council maybe?

Highly unlikely unless recent and the builders may still have a copy if it's a standard design they use.
Just draw one with google sketchup or similar.

Realistically it depends when your house was built and what archives your local authority keep, contact them and ask them.
No no, its the plan of my house he's after.
