how to find the wattage of soil heating cable with multimete

I need to find the wattage of a soil heating cable and as I have a multi metre ,what setting do I put the meter on to find this out?

Its resistance. Then you can work out wattage by knowing the voltage.

-will the resistance not change as it heats up? -for eg you cant test a lightbulb in the way you recommended. -it may not heat up enogh to have much effect but just posing the question in case it becomes an issue.

No offence intended, but maybe you should put the multi-meter back in its box for now, and get the instruction manual out instead.

Maybe you could find the information on the product from the supplier ??
