I have an Ideal Isar M30100
The central heating is working fine but when when you open the hot taps these no hot water. There are no error codes and the boiler is fireing up.

I've been told it could be the diverter valve or the motor. Is there an way of finding out which one it is or should I have both replaced?

Any help would be greatfully recieved.

When you turn on the hot tap does the boiler display change to a 'd'?

count yourself lucky that it works at all.

If the display shows "d" when tap is turned on

AND

the water comes from the tap cold

AND

the rads start to heat up instead

THEN

the diverter valve is jammed or failed in CH position .

Yes, "d" is on the display and the burner light comes on (as it should do). When the system is off the pressure gauge is falling to 0, is this right?
I have read on here that the gauge should read about 1.2 when cold.

In that case you have a leak somwhere for the pressure to go to 0.

The no hot water problems sound like the diverter valve. With the system cold, run the tap and see if the CH flow pipe gets warm.

If you have the CP diverter valve you need to change the whole manifold.

Re-pressurise to just over 1 on the gauge before you try anything.

Any sign of leaks around the boiler, or anywhere on the system?

Pressurise boiler and isolate at ch valves under the boiler. Leave as long as possible and see if pressure drops.

If it does then leak is on boiler, very common for these, if it doesn't leak is on system.
