Hi - I hope someone can give me some much needed advice
In summery
1) Boiler is Ideal Response 120 combi

2) Problem -> No heating + Hot water due to the burner not starting up at all !. (pressure is at about 1 bar)

3)After the heating engineer attended to the above problem, boiler is leaking some brown colour liquid !

Longer version ...
We have a Ideal Response 120, the whole system is about 5 years old.
Recently the heating engineer, serviced the boiler and immediately afterwards it started giving problems. After just one day there is no hot water + CH.

Now he has looked at it again yesterday and after he left there is some brown colour liquid leaking from the boiler.

So the worrying trend is as soon as the engineer leaves, there is an additional problem.
What should I do ?
Any advice greatly appreciated
ps. the engineer is usually very reliable !

It sounds as if the heat exchanger is leaking! Thats terminal in your case.

It sounds to me as if your engineer prefers to dry it out and leave it working and charge you rather than telling you the truth and expecting not to get paid! Perhaps he is short of work?

Thats why we always charge a diagnostic fee for any visit even if that results in saying the boiler is beyond economic repair.

Being reliable in a customer's view is only turning up at a pre arranged time! Not necessarily being competent or honest!

It has never leaked before, during the last 5 or so years. Is it normal for the heat exchanger to spring a leak soon after it's been serviced ?

I guess this means a new boiler ? If so what could someone recommend (something better that Ideal 120)

It never does leak "before" but is the most common fault we find now after a blocked LP switch.

It starts to leak at any time but usually when its at least two years old. Nothing to do with a service!

The part is about £320 just to buy and not regularly available. Yakes about 2-3 hours to fit.
