I can only think of one, because I've often thought this house is close to perfect. The only thing I would really want is much better sound insulation between floors. A very common problem in this country.

How much does that cost and what happens to it that calls for it to be done away with after 15 /20 years.
Surprised at the short time span.

Its due to poor quality materials , reed is imported from Poland these days, water is contaminated thus shortening the life of the reed ,
not many farmers grow short straw these days again due to weather and chemicals .
Looking at about 10K for " Crowning " ( the decorative top of the roof peak that lasts about 10/15 years depending on weather , wind and rain , and 2K per panel for roof depending on size and Health and safety standards , Scaffolding required.
Chocolate box pictures do not portray the thatch problems .
