Our house is an old stone built job, downstairs is quite nice original pitch pine deep skirting, cornicing etc Bathroom & kitchen is all fine just need a bit of paint and wallpaper in places.

The house virtually has no insulation, ive only been there 3 months. Im going to do the loft and under the floor, I have access. Ive also considered stripping the walls upstairs and insulating them. Currently the house is 2 foot stone walls battoned and sheeted with 11mm wood fibre board, thats it.

Would it cause problems or be daft to strip the walls upstairs, all bedrooms and insulate and refinish but leave the downstairs as I dont want to damage any of the original finishings? Upstairs is very plain so no character of fixtures to worry about losing.

Thanks

Not daft at all - the hot air will rise to upstairs - sounds like a sensible idea so you keep the feature walls downstairs ;)
