Internment

Can't remember the IRA placing people in a cage and setting fire to them.(whilst filming it) Can't remember the IRA placing explosives round peoples necks and then detonating them.(whilst filming it) Can't remember the IRA beheading people (whilst filming it) Can't remember the IRA doing a lot of the things ISIS does to captured people (whilst filming it)
Oh I see. You seem to think a terrorist murder is ok as long as the people explode quickly or differently to the methods chosen by ISIS? What about burning to death inside a car because your legs are shattered?

Of course I'm not happy with ISIS, but the way some on here seem to leap to their defence as soon as they're mentioned
A bit like Judith regards any terrorists that are not ISIS. Same reasoning same stupidity.

Christ, you're starting to sound like Diane Abbott. Your hair style has changed hasn't it.
Judith seems to be unwilling to answer any questions put to her.

I have not seen anyone on here defend or condone ISIS terrorism. Can you show us please Judith?

In the same vein - Judith must condone the IRA terrorism. You do think the same reasoning applies to you, doncha Judith?

Silly Judith.

Want to stop terrorism? Go for the hearts and minds of their group (among other things):

"Twelve Rules for Preventing and Countering Terrorism

by Alex P. Schmid(Director TRI & former Officer-in-Charge of UN Terrorism Prevention Branch)

  1. Try to address the underlying conflict issues exploited by the terrorists and work towards a peaceful solution while not making substantive concessions to the terrorists themselves;
  2. Prevent radical individuals and groups from becoming terrorist extremists by confronting them with a mix of 'carrot and stick' –tactics and search for effective counter-motivation measures;
  3. Stimulate and encourage defection and conversion of free and imprisoned terrorists and find ways to reduce the support of aggrieved constituencies for terrorist organizations;
  4. Deny terrorists access to arms, explosives, false identification documents, safe communication, safe travel and sanctuaries; disrupt and incapacitate their preparations and operations through infiltration, communication intercept, espionage and by limiting their criminal- and other fund-raising capabilities;
  5. Reduce low-risk/high-gain opportunities for terrorists to strike by enhancing communications-, energy- and transportation-security, by hardening critical infrastructures and potential sites where mass casualties could occur and apply principles of situational crime prevention to the prevention of terrorism;
  6. Keep in mind that terrorists seek publicity and exploit the media and the Internet to propagate their cause, glorify their attacks, win recruits, solicit donations, gather intelligence, disseminate terrorist know-how and communicate with their target audiences. Try to devise communication strategies to counter them in each of these areas.
  7. Prepare for crisis- and consequence-management for both 'regular' and ‘catastrophic' acts of terrorism in coordinated simulation exercises and educate first responders and the public on how to cope with terrorism.
  8. Establish an Early Detection and Early Warning intelligence system against terrorism and other violent crimes on the interface between organized crime and political conflict;
  9. Strengthen coordination of efforts against terrorism both within and between states; enhance international police and intelligence cooperation, and offer technical assistance to those countries lacking the know-how and means to upgrade their counter-terrorism instruments.
  10. Show solidarity with, and offer support to, victims of terrorism at home and abroad.
  11. Maintain the moral high-ground in the struggle with terrorists by defending and strengthening the rule of law, good governance, democracy and social justice and by matching your deeds with your words;
  12. Last but not least: counter the ideologies, indoctrination and propaganda of secular and non-secular terrorists and try to get the upper hand in the war of ideas – the battle for the hearts and minds of those terrorists claim to speak and fight for. "

Easy info to find, bit more tricky to achieve. And not helped by idiots like UKIP spouting suggestions that would make things worse.

A discussion on insurgency is also interesting, as there are parallels:

Yep hearts & minds policy

That great U.S president lyndon Baines Johnson was a firm believer in the hearts & minds approach.

As he said "grab them by the b***s & there hearts & minds will follow"

;)

It's important to remember that LBJ's approach was unsuccessful, and after great cost in blood and gold, the US was defeated.

LBJ only served one term & the US were not defeated on his watch.

best president the US ever had since the 2ndWW;)

un willing to answer questions ??

You got some neck noseall :LOL: bandying that accusation about :LOL:

But judy was making the case that the torture and murders carried out by the IRA were more humane than murders carried out by ISIS.

I don't consider that his belief has much merit.

Neither were the victorious. Far from it.

you are talking about Vietnam. ???????

As for internment ? how does any one know it does not work ? (that question could be reversed)

IRA members interned ? how does any one know that if they had not been interned that they would have committed terrorist acts ?

Killed people ? perhaps internment saved lives ?

The IRA more often than not would give a telephone warning but they still murdered a stupid amount of people.
ISIS seem determined to get as big a body count as possible, plus their method of killing (suicide bombing) is more extreme.

Both groups are utter evil w*nkers, nobody is 'better'.

suicide bombers killers are not new tbh

japanese Kamikaze in WW2

the americans faced suicide squads in vietnam

tamil tigers in sri lanka

etc etc

The most violent & grotesque execution vids that u are ever likely to see are those that have nothing to do with terrorists.

Those executions that are carried out by drug cartels /gangs in latin america in particular mexico.

Where did I state that then Johnnyboy? I said nothing of the kind.

they always jump to conclusions ,mis quote or just get it wrong

tis habitual with them & him again :)

And they could actually be called up for jury service.jeez :eek::eek:
