My neighbours have just had new boiler installed by BG upstairs
In their house. The fitters have run a long copper pipe on an outside
Wall to the boiler with gas stickers on it and its held in place
By white pipe clips. Another pipe runs from the boiler to the drain pipe
And has been covered in insulation foam that you put on as lagging.

An old gas pipe has been capped off and is sticking out of the wall.

It looks **&* awful tbh but appears functional.

Is this normal installation

why dont you offer to pay a RGI to alter it if its ****ing you off, or advise your neighbour to sort it? you never know he might not tell you to mind you own!

I do see where you coming from tho:cool:

Wrong on all counts!
It's a she not a he, not my gaff that looks s*//?e
And I'm moving in 2 weeks.

I will be getting a new boiler is this the way its done
Now as its crap

quite norm round here to run the gas supply up the outside of the house.
are ya sure its a capped off gas pipe that sticks out of the wall and not the prv pipe? :) the insulated pipe will be the condensate and would be better just being run in 32mm than using lagging.
like wats already been said could do with some pics!

im loathe to take pictures of someones house and put them on the internet, but it does look cacky to me.

the pipe actually runs from ground level in a corner then comes right across and then up about 4 feet into the the wall and presumably the boiler.

No idea what a PRV pipe is

The BG fitters took about 2/3 days to do it.

I have never seen this done before but then again maybe i havent looked muh

Thank **** my new house has a ground floor gas run goin to the boiler

does anyone here have open copper pipes running all over their outside walls

I had it on an old rented house, and it's not at all an uncommon sight. I wouldn't want to see it on any house I owned, though, as I agree it looks shabby. More than likely it's your neighbours fault for not wanting to touch the interior of the house in order to run the pipework internally.

Some people just dont know what to moan about next.

well she is not exactly loaded so presumably its a cheaper and quicker option option

Yes it sounds pretty normal, loads of houses have external gas runs, cos they all want a big combi which needs a big gas pipe and they don't want to lift up carpets.
