Hi all,

How do you guage how far apart these should go to give the right lighting for a kitchen?

Is there a way to work this out depending on the wattage?

I've seen 11 watt Halogen lamps, right up to 50 watt lamps.

Aiming to put a 'row' of lights so they light up the worktops and then another row after this, possibly swith them seperatly.

Am building a large extension kitchen diner, which will have a 7m long straight line kitchen, so just want to know how to light this area.

Thanks

Hard to say. What is the primary room lighting? Are these 'down-lights' in the ceiling? If they are for task lighting then maybe under-cupboard lights would be better.

In my opinion: Don't try to light your kitchen with down-lights at all. I'm not suggesting a 5 foot strip-light but there are other alternatives.

Thanks Mike,

I will have under cupboard lighting as well.

Just wanted some lights in the kitchen 'area', what alternatives would you suggest please?
