Been getting some work done on my kitchen & my builder has blocked up an old air vent as a unit is now going to go there. I have space to put a new vent elsewhere if needed. Just wanted to know what the pro's & cons are of doing or not doing this?

Your builder will no doubt be installing an extractor fan anyway, quite separate to your cooker hood. This should provide sufficient ventilation.

Do you have a boiler in the kitchen that needs the ventilation?

If you do, someone in the plumbing forum could probably help if you can tell them about the make and model of a boiler if you're not sure of the ventilation requirements.

You need a permanent vent in kitchen so any extractor fan can draw air across kitchen and if there is any gas appliance in the kitchen then a vent is not optional it's a must.
