Hi,

For the first time in around 4 years I visited my loft and found the brick work looking a bit dodgy. There weren't massive gaps and it didn't feel instable, but I think it needs pointing/maybe some touch up work.

My house is a 2 bed terraced house and the house is around 100 years old.

It would be good to get a second opinion of the brick work? Do you think I should be concerned ?

to be honest the picture quality is so bad you can;t really tell.

How is the mortar? If its very soft and easily scraped out with a pen for example then re-pointing it would be a good idea.

Any flues in that wall?

Looks quite normal to me for an old house. The external pointing is more important.

Personally, for a loft I think that brickwork is fine and doesn't need anything doing to it. It looks to be the full 9" thick, and the brickwork has been carried up to the roof, unlike in a lot of terrace houses where the roofs are open..
