Recently had a rewire but they failed to do the loft light.
There is already a switch and fitting up in the loft from the old wiring.

According to Part P can i wire this up (just replacing old for new wiring) or will it have to be done by a certified person. Im not adding anything just replacing old wiring to new.

Provided you replace like for like it counts as maintenance and thus doesn't require Part P actions.

It would be sensible to test the finished circuit.

Work in a loft space is not (generally) notifiable under Part P. As long as you don't e.g. tap in to the bathroom ceiling rose for the supply (as work in a bathroom is notifiable), then you should be fine (obviously check the condition of the light and it's wiring before connecting it to anything though!)

Thanks. Well the light fitting and switch are already there as it was working before the rewire. All i will be doing is replacing the redundant old wiring from switch to ceiling rose and the same to connect up to the existing wiring using the ceiling rose in our bedroom.
