What is the correct connection type hose for an LPG free standing cooker in my house-bungalow/cottage?
I have been given two opinions – a) Micropoint Gas Cooker Connection
b) LPG Standard Cooker Hose
This issue is causing some strife in our house and would appreciate some help and guidance that will keep us safe and legal.
Obviously there is more to this, but wish to keep it simple at the moment - more to follow if needed.

Rather than us giving you information which would enable you to do an illegal DIY job, most would say ask your chosen registered gas installer who will be doing it for you!

Angus, get a pro to do the work as there are lot of requirements that need following

You cannot fit just any hose on that type of gas, hose even has a sell by date.

Many Thanks DP and Agile for your very quick responses. I appreciate your concerns and recognised the dangers of an ill informed DIY installation - hence my question - part of the deal for my new cooker was its installation - the installation engineer stated that the straight bayonet connection is illegal and for natural gas use only and it was up to me to hire another RGI to rectify the situation as his companies insurance did not cover him/them to correct this issue.
I duly contacted an RGI who specialises in LPG as his 'bread and butter' and he installed my cooker using a 'straight bayonet connection' which he claims is 100% legal.
Now that my back pocket is another £100 lighter, I would like to know if the installation engineer is correct or am I now sitting with a potential 'bomb' in my kitchen?
Surely there must be a line or two in the RGI's bible that states what is and is not the correct type of hose and connection for a free standing cooker in a detatched bungalow.

the first guy was probably just not qualified for LPG and wasnt allowed to connect it.
Hose should have a red line down it.

Hi Mickyg, Thanks for your reply - The first guy let me know in no uncertain terms that he had very recently completed and passed his LPG course and he 'knew it all' - I checked him out on the gas safe online register along with his 'portrait'.
My old hose had the red line down its length as has the new replacement.

LPG hoses. There is no British Standard which refers to LPG cooker hoses. They are, however, identical to the hoses specified under 1 and 2 above, except that the sealing thread within the hose is nitrile and that the cover is nitrile or neoprene. LPG hoses are identified by a red band or stripe.

BES specialize in gas stuff. Check out here and here

We were hardly ever asked for the old-style bayonet hose for LPG, so only stocked the micropoint one.

Many thanks Charnwood, Your link to BES is most useful - this indicates that either BES (and a heap of other distributers) are selling illegal hoses or the cooker suppliers fitter needs some enlightenment. I think we all know where the truth lies.
