Has it ever worked the way you want it?

How old is it?

Which model?

Which programmer?

What does it do instead of the behaviour you expect?

Will I ever win the lottery?

Why are we all here?

If it really will not stop in the centre position then what position does the valve go to when both are selected?

The obvious answer is that one or other of the microswitches has failed or is not operating in the correct sequence.

The diode or a resistor on the PCB might have failed although thats unusual.

londongas!.Are you sure you have a problem, or is it that you don't fully understand how the mid position valve works. It's a mistake to associate the valve position with the switch position, when both are on.
The fact that you put both HW and CH on does not mean the valve moves to mid point and provides for both at the same time. It only does this when both sides are not satisfied. As soon as one side is satisfied, that side is closed off leaving the other side open.
When you have selected both HW and CH it is highly likely HW soon gets satisfied (cause it's not in constant use and cylinder insulated) whereas the CH is losing heat through radiators and that heat soon needs replacing. Based on this, I would say that the valve would rarely be in the mid position and would spend a high percentage of time in the CH position.

Looking at your first post again, what you've provided is half of a diagnosis, but no symptoms.

What were the original symptoms?

And how did you determine that the valve was not providing flow to both circuits?
