Hi, at last place circa 15 months back I was told by British Gas probably compression joints on rad pipe work under floorboards so rather than risk bursting have condensing boiler but retain tanks - sill not sure that was good advice

Now moving into 3 bed semi bungalow with back boiler and I note 15mm and smaller bore pipes to rads. However this time we don’t want tanks so is it best when having new boiler to have all paperwork changed at the same time - if so copper or plastic?.

Thanks

depends on age of existing pipework as to wether you keep it on a sealed system, cos if they are old and get it power flushed as it should be with a new boiler install, bad joints could be exposed and leaks pop up all over!!!
as to copper or plastic...... too many installers use the wrong plastic pipes on central heating thus leading to sludging inside, many argue about this but as far as i'm aware there is only one type of plastic pipe suitable for heating installs and is bs stamped to say so!!!! there fore i would always advise good old fashion copper(sized and installed correctly).

p.s. plastic pipe installation can be unsightly and look unprofessional...
just my views tho
