can anyone tell me if a new ringmain wired in 2.5mm lsf twin & earth cable(3 yrs ago) that has satisfactory continuity r1+r2 polarity & insulation resistance test readings.. can be incorperated into a new full rewire to the 17th regs..obvious standout problem being wired in the old colours of red and black ? the wiring is fine with plenty of skts around the ground floor which would save the householder money decoration damage to say the least..obviously the old colours would have to be oversleeved with brown & blue id sleeving at the skts as well as the dis board..and of course protected by an mcb/rcd or an rcbo..(less than 50mm depth) anyone else dealt with this situation cheers again :D

Wouldn't you just be incorporating the 'old' (newish) ring final circuit into the new rewire? You don't need sleeving.

In which the case you would just put the appropriate sticker on the CU.

Check out Appendix 11 of the OSG - having said that I think the identification of conductors was harmonised around 2004/05 so maybe your ring final circuit is more than three years old.

Use the "Description and extent of the installation work" (covered by this certificate) box.

Utterly pointless. Just employ Reg 514.14.1 and the advice of Appendix 7.

If you think what the requirement to have a notice saying "Caution" implies, and the requirement in P1 to make reasonable provision in the design and installation of electrical installations in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installations from fire or injury, you'll see that the law requires you to carry on using old colours in changes to old installations if you have them, rather than new.
