no live to light in litchen

hi i wander if antbody can help
turned the kitchen light on th other day and it didnt come on thought it was the bulbs rep;laced them to no avail so i took the lights down(kitchen fan) and checked with my tester and there was no live there, there is live to the switch on the wall we have a dimmer switch on the wall. so i have took the light down and there is still no live there.
i pulled all the wires out of the ceiling and there is 4 red wires all going to the same block and 1 of them tests live . but still no live anywhere else.
i have 1 black wire with a red bit of tape round it, i have 3 black wires all going in the same block. and i have the earth wire.
Love for some help me and the wife and the four kids are sick of eating in the dark cheers guys

sounds like the switch is at fault, have you changed it?

when switched on the black with red tape should be live
