I installed a Optima XM6 control panel back in 1993 and put in Texecom Reflex Quad PIR units around the ground floor and garage which has run over the years without any problems apart from the usual battery replacement for the unit and the bell housing outside on the wall of the house.
This unit has proved to be very reliable over time in spite of some reviews slating the Optima XM6. I have been thinking of updating the control box and have been looking at the Honeywell Galaxy 2-12 CO12 unit which has been selling off at around £90.00 to £100 with MK7 keypad (eBay). Any thoughts on the Galaxy flex system as it can be updated with extras? Or should I purchase a more up to date unit in the galaxy Range.

Thinking of locating a unit which can phone a mobile or connected up to the Ethernet in the house. Any suggestions gratefully received on which unit to purchase for a large family house with garage.

The old Xm6 was basic but rock solid unlike the newer optimas ( now made in China) ....would speak to galaxy guy reguarding the galaxy and IP com as he runs selfmon ,a few people on here use it and find it very good

Anybody with thoughts on other control panels to look at in the middle market for home use. Happy to pay a bit extra than the cheaper bottom end control panels put into large housing estates. Looking for a reliable unit that will match the old XM6 but with the possibility of contacting a mobile phone. House at the moment is using PIR's throughout. Is there any advantage in fitting reed switches to the doors as the wired in Texecom Reflex Quads have not given any false alerts to date?

Fifteen years out of date on what is on the market at realistic prices.

Will also have a look at the Premier 24 kit panel you have suggested. Think the metal box panel might be best instead of plastic.
Just out of interest is anything from Texecom made in the EU or does everything come from that lovely place across the sea China?
