Parking Facing Oncoming Traffic

I agree - it is annoying, selfish and dangerous. 'Tis time the police started to fine the people who don't switch their lights off when parked. A question - Do not people think the issue is more common with the increase in the number of cars with automatic headlights?

What also drives me up the wall is the ****** who drive along never ever using the main beam on their cars and with the lights screwed down with the adjuster so that they just illuminate the few inches in front of their car. How the F**K can they see what is in front of them in the stopping distance?
I was passenger to someone who drove like along a narrow, dark country lane that at night - the most scary ride of my life...!!! Once he stopped I got out and ordered a taxi to go home (my employer wasn't impressed as I charged the taxi to expenses).

I don't see the problem. How many fast-moving roads can you park on? No many. Most parking is in built up areas where traffic is so slow that you should have no difficulty driving down a lane between face-on cars. And who leaves their lights on once parked anyway? Are people just sitting in their cars, lights on, for long periods? I can't imagine this is an epidemic problem.

If the speed limit is above 30mph, you commit an offence if you don't park with your lights on.

And despite this being a revived thread.....

As I type this there are 2 cars over the road parking against the flow, 1 of them is at the end of the row in a spot that had been hit by speeding cars twice in the past few years.
Stupid idiots.

Gosh, parking against the flow of traffic. (Shhhhhhush) some people actually turn their library books in late too.

Taxis, people popping into the shops, etc etc. It's amazing how many people don't bother to switch the engine or the lights off if at night, and apparently, it's legal to leave the engine running as long as there's a competent person left in the car, and I've even seen women people get out of the car and leave the engine running, and there's just kids left in the car.

In France, if a foreigner commits a motoring offence, the gendarmes escort them down to the local cashpoint to pay the fine. Shame our police force lets all and sundry do what they like, until the kill someone of course.

It's distracting enough in the dark having to contend with oncoming headlights dazzling you on your right, without having lights facing you on your side of the road as well.

Driving home from work the other night, there was a Transit type van parked on the left hand side of the road, facing me, with headlights blazing. Traffic coming the other way too. Street was wide enough so I could pass, but just as I'm about to pass I noticed someone walking alongside the vehicle (on the roadway) dressed all in dark clothing. Had I not jammed my brakes on, I think I might have hit this person. Almost impossible to see until too late with the headlights of the van pointing in my direction. The person then opened the passenger door (into oncoming traffic) and climbed into the van. I'm sure some people have a death wish.
