We have a cat that is kept in the utility room. What would be better and less likely to set off false alarms, PIR or break glass?
Do any people use Pet Imune PIR's and have no problems? The utility room has a surface which the car can jump on.

Is there both door and window access?

If just door access then does it have a glass panel?
If the glass panel was broken could you get through without having to open the door?
If there is only a door and you couldn't get through the glass panels if broken then why not use a door contact to protect the room instead.
This also has the advantage of being a possible perimeter device so you can set the alarm when you are in the home.

Pet friendlies and cats don't go great in small rooms or hallways with stairs. You need to ensure the cats won't get within 2 metres of the sensor or that they can't jump down or accross its field of view.

Break glass? Speak to the other guys , never used them.

There is another possibility.
If the utility room door is a solid internal one ie no glass panels why not fit a door contact to the internal door leading into the rest of the house from the utility?
If they get into the utility I presume there is nothing to steal except a scraggy moggy anyway? That way you dont have to worry about false alarms at all.

Need more info on the room in question tbh op

may not be ideal but, you could just omit the zone in question or just move the cat upstairs or something.

Dont like pet immune detectors, dont really see the point in them, never fitted one and never will.

Glassbreak detectors need to be set-up correctly with the appropriate glassbreak simulator which you wont have.
