it would be a while yet as I will need to gf samples sent etc before deciding to go head but I will def be back here if I go ahead with it.

Quality is more important than price for me. I'd rather pay a bit extra for a decent slice that's going to last than buy the cheapest thing going. If you can make a 28mm slice that actually works properly you may be on to something though - most of them track along the pipe rather than cutting it after a while

Not the cheapest but the ridgid 28mm pipeslice is as you would expect well made.
Had mine over 2 years used almost daily no tracking
I do keep it lubricated though!
