pressure and flow

The flow, and therefore velocity, will be greater out of the tap spout when it's supplied by larger bore pipe.

If we have a set flowrate of water

9 l/min is 9 l/min, be it blasting down an 8mm pipe at very high pressure or running through an open gutter...

The velocity along the pipe will be higher, but you won't be looking inside the pipe

I meant of course allowing the water to flow from an open ended pipe.
