We have had an ICOS HE24 boiler since summer 2004 and it worked fine for around 2 years. Over last 2 years we have had to call out a plumber every few months.

Current problem is that boiler is noisy/clunking and hot water doesn't work. The central heating comes on full belt when you try to turn hot water to ON even though the control panel says CH is OFF!

This has been a costly boiler and looks like it will continue to be so! Any ideas to solve the current problem please?

Diverter valve is stuck, nearly as common as the pcb going.

If you can live with it for 30 days, then call Ideal and buy their extended warranty, then after 30 days call them out to fix it:cool:

Hi. Thanks for info.

Plumber came out tonight and replaced valve. Said that the spindle inside had sheered off so valve flapping about and not switching between CH and HW. Cost us another £50 :( Hope it's a long-term fix!

£50  This would not even cover a genuine call out, let alone a fix including parts

Think we were quite lucky with the cost, but the same plumber has been out at least three times before in the last 6 months to sort out problems.
