I currently have a strip light in my shed that is powered from a 5 amp plug into an existing socket
I want to put a pull switch in between the socket and the light
I have a one way pull switch that has three terminals L1 L2 and COM. The L! terminal has no cable connector screw in it
Do I connect the two blues to the COM and the two Browns to L2 ?
or do I need another type of switch?
The pull switch base ahas an earth terminal that I can send the two earths to
The current cable is a 1.5mm twin and earth

if you do that it will go bang, since you will put a short across live and neutral

twin and earth is for fixed wiring, not for going into plugtops

either change it all to flex  or fit a switched fcu spured off the socket

Why crying? Nothing wrong with that, is there? I think a bunch of round white flexes clipped in a neat row looks better than the equivalent in twin and earth!

But to answer the question...

Connect the two blues (neutrals) together in the switch - use a terminal block (choc block)

The brown from the supply goes to COM
The brown going to to the light goes to L2
Connect the two earths together into that handy terminal meant fro the purpose.

And then Robert is your mother's brother.
