I’ve replaced my bathroom pull switch 3 times in about 18 months, the last one has only lasted about 3 weeks (the original one lasted 20 Years!)

I've used a British General 1 way switch which seemed good quality, but the mechanism seems to keep failing

Any ideas?

Don't use BG!

I have some rental properties and the nearest supplier is screwfix so BG get fitted, however they fail very quickly and like you say within weeks. Last 2 I returned and paid about £1 for something better. I wouldn't promise but I think it was only MK they had in stock.

Before Mrs S became Mrs S, she had a maisonette flat in Clapham. The light pull cord went in the bathroom, so I swapped it for MK.

A month later, it failed again.

Swapped it again and it failed again. Worked out that no-one was ventilating the room while showering and the switch was filling up with condescension.
