Unfortunately some instructions for boilers are just too simple.
If the boiler has connections for an external pump then thats where the pump should be wired to as it usually means there is a pump, over run.
On later boilers its a analogue or digital timing circuit.
On older boilers a thermostat runs the pump until the boiler cools to about 70C or similar.
I very rarely see an older boiler like the Classic in the "HE" version. I know what they are trying to do, promote the sales of a cheap to make boiler! But they will never be as efficient as a modern low water content boiler.
