repainting white gloss doors

i need to re paint some internal white 8 panel days . They are in gloss at the minute but i fancy doing them in silk finish , it seems they stay whiter longer . What i need to know is can i put the vinyl silk over the top if i use a good quality emulsion or have i the ball acher of rubbing them down with wet and dry regards

Afraid you will have to rub down if you want the paint to stick, which you would have to do with gloss anyway!

The vinyl will take over the gloss without sanding but will peel off if you scrape it with just your fingernail.

There is no reason not to paint your doors with emulsion, provided they are given a key, (I have done hundreds in my time without any comeback) and yes they do stay whiter because the paint is not oil/solvent based.
