repairing holes

Hi All,

Every time I repair holes in plasterboard, fill the hole/sand it down etc etc, even if I use the same tub of paint, the repaired patch is loads darker than the rest of the wall.

Is there a way to get it of equal darkness? Ive tried watering down the paint prior to application but the same thing happens.

Also when you have something to hang with 2 screws on opposite sides, what is the easiest way to measure where to drill correctly? I end up measuring the distance between the screws, then distance from each screw to the ceiling etc and it makes it difficult

I wouldn't measure from the screws to the ceiling, as your ceiling could be out. Mark for one screw, put a spirit level on the mark and measure along it for the second screw.

Either my house is wonky or my spirit level is out as when something looks level it says its out and the other way round, maybe need to buy a new spirit level.

Put the spirit level on something level. Mark where it is. Turn it around 180 degrees end to end and put it back in the marked position. The bubble should be in the same place both ways.
And perceived "level" is a weird thing. It depends on how vertical the walls are, and how level the floor is. There's a pub near Dudley in the Midlands called the "Crooked House" A marble will appear to roll uphill if placed on the top of the wainscot in there.
