What is the make and model of the downlight fitting?

No idea to be honest, in the office at the mo, but when I looked this morning I couldn't really see any names, all I know is they came from City Electrical Factors.

Not the same. Those have a circlip to hold in the lamp. Yours have a thicker curved spring that holds the lamp in place.
You will need to check that the spring on your lights will hold in the shorter lamp.
I don't see a prob with chucking the inner cage, otherwise.

Ours dont have a spring that hold the lamp in place, they have a metal insert, same as here:

Ahh OK, you never showed us a pic of the whole fitting.

You should be OK then, but i would get one lamp to try before you change the whole lot.

Cool, will get a normal GU10 & try that & then go from there i think.
