The Monarchy as an institution is over 1200 years old and is part of our heritage.
Stonehenge and Dover Castle cost a lot to maintain but no-one calls for their demolition to save money or questions their value as heritage and tourism sites. A living Monarchy 1200 years old with all its pomp and circumstance is as worth preserving as any other part of our heritage and as much a tourist attraction as any other we have.
Its estimated the monarchy costs us about £200 million per year and the monarchy in turn generates at least £500 million per year through tourism.

Politics of envy, I'm afraid. Which applies to anyone with money, even if they have worked damned hard for it.
Unearned income? Try telling that to Her Majesty, who has been at the nation's service for eight decades, and in all that time as not put a foot wrong.
So get rid of the Royal Family - you'll just be screwed over by another "bunch of freeloaders", only you won't know who they are / will forget who they were, within a matter of months.

People forget that most of the money spent on the royals, would still be spent on those properties as heritigate sites/government fuction buildings/diplomatic centers.
Whatever your reasons for getting rid of the royals, money is not one of them.
Somebody would still be collecting the rent on the land they own, and the taxpayers would still be paying money to maintain the castles and palaces.
