Silly Combi-boilder CH question

Sorry to bother with a silly question!
Just moved into a house with combi-boiler (never seen one before!).
Nice to have hot water all time and CH works a treat.

Now winter is about to set in, I was wondering what is the most efficient use of the boiler for CH?

Currently it is timed to come on for a couple of hours in am and from 4pm to 11pm. There is a variable thermostat in the living room.

Would it be more efficient (cheaper!) to keep CH on constantly and vary the temperature with thermostat?

When the boiler is running you'll use gas. Keep it off as much as possible and wear a jumper. There is no cheap way to get heat. When it's heating - you pay for it. When it's not - you don't.
