ive just put up a folding door but i want to be able to lock it ive put a lock in the "normal" place but you can still get the door to open as the doors fold outwards is there a way to "bolt" the doors so they dont fold when the door is locked? i was going to use a rack bolt on the folding edge so the bolt went from one door into the other but its slightley to big can you get thinner rack bolts?
having read that it makes sense to me but i dont know about you!!! any help appreciated

When we had a folding door (hideous thing it was), we had a bolt at the top in the middle that shoots into the top frame.

if you are using a mortice lock, you can get a "sliding door" version that has a hook that pivots down and prevents the door opening by pulling, which includes leaning on the middle of a folding door.

But I agree about up-and-town bolts. If you seriously want it to be anywhere near secure I would also fit then top and bottom of both leaves beside the central fold.
