What is the best thing to use to repair a hole in a soil pipe?

I have visited a customer yesterday and they have had some plumbing done,
unfortunately for them the plumber had not got the fall from the kitchen waste into the soil pipe at the right angle, but had already mad the cut in to soil pipe.
So there is a something like a 50mm hole in the pipe at current. The householder has asked me if there is any way to repair this?
I told him to get the plumber back, but they must have fallen out, as my comment was not taken to welcoming!
I guess there will be some kind of collar that can be fitted around it and sealed up in some way?
Any suggestion please?

That sounds like a good solution, the inlet or hole is just that, a cut out of a hole and left.
Could you give me a link to a blanking plug that would be suitable John?
