I noticed that, JohnD deleted it even faster than Ursula Von Der Leyen deleted her text messages to Pfizer.
Nato was created to protect western Europe from supposed invasion by tb USSR.
With the demise of the Soviet Union, instead of disbanding they have expanded their area of operations to include non European countries.
Nato now seems to be the military wing of the USA/EU imperialism.
More than a few EU leaders have broken ranks.
Not in some ways. The USA is far more hawkish than many parts of the EU. Nato worked effectively when Yugoslavia broke up. Peacekeepers with weapons if needed and observers. The USA and Russia joined up with bombs not so long ago. Neither are keen on terrorists.
NATO could do more really in trouble spots by adding the weapons and soldiers but generally do not seem to be too keen on the idea.
with the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO's main purpose disappeared and they cut size, funding and big toys. UK, for example, has around 200 battle tanks in working order, and was not very concerned about scrapping the last aircraft carrier, and waiting for a new one to be built, that had no planes to fly off it. Germany ended conscription and sold off its excess hardware at scrap prices.
Now that Putin is rebuilding the Empire's ambitions, his closest neighbours, with most recent experience of occupation and dominion, are the most alarmed at the threats and evidence of expansionist actions. The larger European countries have been deploying their reserves of brave words.
It's interesting to reflect that France and Italy both suffered more war deaths than Britain or the US in WW2.
I supppose Gassy must be German or Russian, and proud of his nation's massive deaths.
now lets think who killed most of those italians and why and of course US would be lower they were not in the centre of hostilities ?

Uncalled for, inappropriate, nasty and viscously cruel jibs at the many that gave their lives for freedom. I'm not French or Italian FYI but a British citizen that prides himself for being part of the UK
