Has anyone any comments on the effectiveness of that thermal spray-on stuff that bonds to the inside of your old tile roof, thus insulating, rain-proofing, holding tiles, etc (according to the adverts).

It seems a good idea; but what about letting the wood battens 'breathe' ? My 70 year old roof has lots of gaps and when windy, the loft space is freezing.

Forget it !

Timber need to breathe and if you have a broken roof tile, the rain will find it way into the timber and cause wet rot.

Normally roof tiles have a like span of 60 - 70 years.
