CCUs are already labelled "Cooker", and "Socket" if there is one. You shouldn't be using a CCU for lights, or a ring main....

Oh come on Ban, you know he's talking about a CU!

Albert, you obviously have a PC; get a few sheets of label paper and you can print an labels you like ....

I mean CU , fuse box...etc, the thing is that a new CU might come with lables, but old ones not aleways, and to put some order in the mess, stickers might help...

This is already done, but I just wondered if someone make them, + wiring lables (numbers and letters), I think woulb be more simple to get ready made.
Thanks

That was going to be my next suggestion.

Problem is I don't know how long-lived the adhesive is - will it dry out and leave you with nothing in 10+ years time?

MEM make CUs with labels which appear to be pre-printed

and it might be worth asking companies which specialise in labelling products, e.g. http://www.safetyshop.com http://www.seton.co.uk if any of their stuff is suitable.

When I bought my little garage CU (Volex) it came with a sheet of about 8 stickers - the words on them are not garage-specific, so I assume the packers pull them out of a huge box and stuff one in each CU. Maybe the helpdesk at one of the CU manufacturers would bung a few sheets your way? Or sell you them for a couple of bob?

I've labeled up my CU with a dymo tape printer. One of them battery operated hand jobbies (ooo sounds quite rude eh?). Rather than make a seperate label for each MCB, I made one long tape to run right across.

I found, through this experience, that the adhesive on these things is stronger than the label itself. Removing my first effort (where I had a couple of the descriptions the wrong way round) was an absolute cows son. The whole thing looks pretty neat now, but not very easy to update.

Yes I tried some label makers as well as MK etc. no joy, I think I will stick to my own home made stickers... looked at the dymo tape thing but I was not convinced that this is the thing I need, as you said there are some disadvantages ...
Thanks
