Strange socket in kitchen

We are having some new sockets fitted in the house next week by a qualified electrician ( I am too much of a whimp to so it) next week so will ask him to check it over.

No shame in knowing your limits and getting a professional in. Kitchen electrics are covered by Part P so definitely best decision to get professional in.

If he quibbles about having a fused plug on a fused spur (agreed, opinions differ) ask if he would be OK putting a 20A DP switch above the worktop with the unswitched 13A single socket below (my preferred method, though opinions differ)

If you are lucky he might even make a neat label for the switch to say "Washing Machine" or whatever.

Tell him in advance what you want to do and he'll turn up with a switch or FCU properly engraved..

And BTW, MarkBarl - everything in a house etc is covered by Part P..
