I have a HOTPOINT FDL570 dishwasher and now the tablet/powder section does not open when on a cycle. So machine does not clean at all as tablet never released.

Check the solenoid inside the door that operates the catch or the easier way just drop the tablet in the base yourself before washing.
It does not dissolve much during the cold rinse as they require heat to work properly.
