Thermostatic Bath Mixer stops my Hot Water

I have had a Worcester combi boiler installed for the CH and Water and at the same time I had a Thermostatic Mixer tap fitted to the bath. If the mixer tap is turned to cold all the hot water in any of the sinks, basins etc runs cold. As soon as I turn the thermostat back to the standard 38 deg position the hot water flows freely again. It seems the thermostat is mixing the hot water for the whole house!

What is causing this?

Sounds like the cold is backflowing through the mixer.
A non-return valve on the hot feed to the mixer will probably cure it.
