hey flameport,

it doesn't seem to say if its 9.5kw or whatever and its the cooker switch that trips when it goes off

Oh and it happens on the second shower of the day ??

Any ideas ?

Sounds like a shower that is to big for the installed wiring without actually seeing it.

the "cooker switch" trips?

What are you talking about?

Is the thing that's tripping a circuit breaker in the consumer unit? If so what rating is it? (B32? B40?)

Is it an RCCB (RCD) in the consumer unit? Does it have a test button on it?

Is it the isolation switch for the shower that 'trips'?

You really need to find the rating of the shower, what size cable it's on and how the cable is routed.

Has it always done this? Is it a new shower?

How old is the shower? We just binned an 8 year old one (having been used twice a day all its life), one of the internal links had melted at the top of the shower elements, but was working fine. Wouldnt have been for much longer though. Perhaps yours is in a worse state.

.....its the cooker switch that trips when it goes off....

If the shower and cooker are fed from the same MCB, that's worrying.

If whoever wired up the shower re-used the cooker MCB, but was too lazy to re-label it, I wonder what else they were too lazy to do properly. That's also worrying.
