Can anyone help? We recently turned off the water to replace tap washers and during this time my daughter forgot and flushed the lavatory. Since then, every time we flush we have terrible noise in the pipes as the cistern fills. We think it must be air in the system but what is the best way of removing it?

This sometimes happens when a stop tap has been altered.
Try turning the stop tap back half a turn at a time and see if the noise stops.
