for the 13A socket, I'm lead to beleive that BS1363 says that the terminals have to be suitable for putting on a ring circuit...

I agree its *much* more of a standards issue than a real life issue, and I'd eat a paper hat or something if a properly terminated 20DP overheated from being used this way, just thought it was an interesting angle that had been brought up there

I happen to have the Mem catalogue about me. 13A sockets: "terminals capable of accepting 3 x 4mm or 2 x 6mm" plastic FCU " live and neutral accept 3 x 2.5mm" brass FCU "supply terminals accept 3 x 2.5mm" 20A DP switch "supply terminal accept 3 x 2.5mm load terminals accept 2 x 2.5mm"

They also do 15A DP switches (never seen one) "accepts 3 x 1.5mm"

I was a little bit surprised that other accessories have smaller tunnels than the sockets.
