I bought a Whirlpool washing machine in France about 4 years ago, used it for about a year then put it into storage when I moved back to the UK. The place where it was stored flooded over Christmas and so the machine has sat in about 5 inches of water for a good few days. I have only just got it back. It aint working so i had a look and it seems that the motor has seized up.
Question is how fixable are washing machines? I am tempted to order a new motor on the internet for £60 and fit it myself, doesn't look too difficult. But am i overlooking any other possible issues considering what the thing has been through? ie. it is French, it has been moved about, it has stood still for 3 years and it has sat in water for a while.

Any help is much appreciated.

Only my opinion but I'd send it to the big launderette in the sky...there could be other issues such as a damaged pump - never mind any electronics that are down there......could be good money after bad.

Hi Sorry if I am on the wrong thread.

I loaded and turned my washing machine on as normal and it started the wash but it is tumbling far too fast like it is getting ready to spin. It then starts jumping about like when it has an uneven load. I have tried to put it on a spin but it starts but slows down again. Any ideas please?

put your money towards a new one. chances are there will be more damaged to main board from feedback from wet motor and pump . frank

Goo, I think frank may be referring to the original post....you may get a better response if you start a new one.

Have slept on the problem and now decided to send my little Washing Machine to the Launderette in the sky as suggested. Just browsing on Which? trying to find a replacement one. Thanks for all the help.

Have you no flood insurance, or insurance from where it was stored.
