Water pump will not switch off

Okay. I know how to test an electrical circuit for resistance with my multimeter, so do I check the cable going from the flow switch to the circuit board. I have also found the other flow switch. I noticed they seem to be connected around the pipe and not within the pipe. If they are faulty is it just a matter of attaching new ones around the pipe and to the circuit board?
What resistance should I be looking for and where should I be applying the multimeter, is it where the cables from the flow switch are attached to the circuit board?
