So why is it idiotic to ask what I did?

OP wants a shed base which could well be below the level of the groundwater after a few rainy days, and you seemed to be suggesting that a permanent solution is to just pump away the water that is there right now.

And you think it is OK to call me an idiot for questioning that?

What are going to call me after I ask you this:

Dig another, deeper hole, alongside it, and use a pump to pump it out.
What if that deeper hole fills with water to the same level as the hole already there?
