See, one of my previous proffessions prepared me just right for the gas business; 800 programs, 2000 different files and keys, 2000 outstanding bug numbers to remember (and that was just one version), the software games just the same muddle.

Hmm. If it IS an aluminium alloy (likely to be Al-Si) then it would need to get above 500°C to do that. (Al mp is 660).
A Zinc alloy would be somewhat less, but distinctly warm at 400+.
