What wire for electric oven ?

Hey guys.

I'm at the final stage now, and probably the most crucial.

I bought the cable as recommended by AL66 (thanks mate :) which I just got this morning, I ordered 2 meters of it.

So I am now facing this task and I have taken some pictures to show you:

When I looked up wiring up a cooker it said its as easy as wiring a plug, but I have never seen this type of screw connection before so am baffled.

Can someone tell me what I am supposed to do with the 2nd pic down going by the diagram ? 3 holes are blanked white and 3 have screws, am I supposed to wrap the wire around the screw and screw it back in ? I am not sure how solid a connection that would be.

Same with the wall side please, the last picture, when I undo those screws is it a case of placing the appropriate wire in there and tightening up ?

I feel the end of take outs is nigh but it all seems too good to be true, if someone can help advise me how it should be done I would be most grateful.

Cheers.

Matt :)

The 2nd picture down is your hob connections and appears set for 240V (UK) as opposed to the alternative 400V. The white blanked off bits are not needed for UK wiring according to the diagram. Double check against the MI instructions.

Yes you can wrap the wires around the screws or use terminating connectors albeit you would have to buy these as extra.

Likewise, the terminations in the 3rd picture are as you say. Wire them in accordingly.

I am sure the experts here will tell you otherwise if I have missed anything.

Lovely thanks very much Belboz :)

So this is what it looks like at the moment:

What I found was when taking the screw out there was a vertical brass looking connector on the left hand side and because the wire is so thick rather than wrap it around the screw I placed the 6mm wire vertically against this brass plate next to the screw and tightened the screw onto the wire, hopefully that's how it should be, going to be hard to wrap it around as its so thick and theres not that much thread on the screw to go back in.

So do I just repeat this step in the wall now and that should be it ?

Once I get confirmation I will turn power off at fuse box and give it a go lol.

Thanks :)
